Morning runs with my lil buddy

Started the day right with a healthy run, lots of sweating the toxins out and ends it perfectly with a kiss #running #ontrack #punny #jaketales

Grandma stays over

The MIL is a very quiet, stoic lady. She is also the world's most patient woman, like, ever. I lived with her after I got married and truly, she's a gem who was Kate's main caregiver for the first 2 years of Kate's life. Kate is a very lucky child who received warmth, love and spoils from her paternal grandparents.

A year+ ago, we moved out after the house we bought was built and while I enjoy the space and am thrilled that we have our own place, I do miss the fact that we have more people in the house. Especially with the kids, you can never have too much help.

For the last three days, the MIL came over to stay and it's such a treat! Not just for the kids, who obviously adore the company and fun (all I hear is "mama this" and "mama that"), but for the husband and I too because while we have wonderful help, I do think that nothing beats having family.

Playdoh time.

I know that the MIL prefers her own home, especially since she's been living there for many years, but I have relayed to her that the doors are always open to our home and that she will come over whenever she feels like to be with us.

Truly, nothing beats family love.

Hong Ren turns 9

Hong Ren is my little cousin. He's the son of my youngest uncle, so that makes him the second youngest in our generation. When he was little, the husband and I used to babysit him on the weekends and bring him out. Honestly, he was my first dabble to how looking after a child will be like. Tomorrow, he turns 9. Yesterday, he threw a birthday party at Maccas.

I think everyone had fun - except that greedy me ate so much that I felt stuffed from lunch all the way till past-dinner. Junk food is so bad for you!

But I digress.

It's amazing how quickly time flies and I'm so proud to see this little boy grow up into a little boy.

New in blue - and his very own!

Being secondborn has its perks, like when your parents are so chillaxed that they are a lot more lenient with your food intake, so that you tried chocolate and french fries before you turn a year old.

On the flipside, it also means that you own a lot of hand-me-downs. And while I'm not very fussy about what he wears (the husband has told me before not to put anything pink on him, please *teehee) and we do buy him some new outfits and shoes; equipment isn't something that we'd get especially if it's still in good condition.

So, when the kind people from Capella offered strollers along with the upcoming Shape Run - for the mommy-baby-fun-run, I was stoked! This is totally on-track with my diet plan (which has been failing, by the way) and Jake now has his own, spanking new, pretty, awesome Capella stroller!

It's only been a whole day since we got it, so I'm going to bring it about and test it properly, but here's some sneaks to us receiving the stroller. It was also the first time I went to an SMB gathering/event and it was nice to put proper faces to some of these mommies I've been reading about.

I plonked Jake right into the stroller during the demo-session. He was pretty stunned but stayed in the stroller comfortably.

Here's Joy in her new stroller. I totally love how she was inspecting the stroller thoroughly.
That's us! I specially picked a blue one just for my little boy

Here's Jake. This was probably 5 minutes of him sitting in his new ride and he also totally seemed to be checking it out!

Mom knows best

My mom,  I mean. Till today, she will still buy breakfast for me and I'm not ashamed to say that I'm loving being pampered. The familiarity of having my favourite comfort food bought for me rocks. Love my mom!
Green bean soup, chee cheong fun, soon kueh. Best.

Sisters who lunch

Because blood is thicker than water, because we are close like that, because we are greedy like that, because we love like that.

Little perks in my day

Spotting a piece of my firstborn in my bag unexpectedly. Definitely brought a smile to my face.
