After spending Thursday and Friday pretty much doing the same exploration of the city, we awoke to a lazy Saturday - perfect for us right in the middle of our holiday. The smells of bacon and toast floated to our nostrils, as we laid in our bed. It was extremely comfortable and absolutely lovely. With the hosts not working, the husband and I could leave our kids with them while we opted to go for a run.

Sumptuous home-made breakfast of bacon, toast and scrambled eggs; milk and coffee. Yums! |
Knowing the kids were in good hands and company of the parents and their children, the husband and I set off. That's A, in the pic above, checking out the instructions/information for our running route.
The run was pretty nice. The husband led the way and we were off. I didn't feel as energised as I did during our
first run in LA, but I think it is because the weather was hotter - though we were still properly clothed from neck to wrists to ankles. Largely, it was due to the hot sun that shone down on us. The weather felt properly chilled when we were in the shade - such a difference the sun makes.

7.4km in San Francisco (ignore the time, it was obviously in SG mode) |
We made it to this point where we made a U-turn. Not before we mucked around with some fun shots.

Check out his shadow - doesn't it resemble the basketball Nike symbol? |

A couple who runs together, stays together |
While I wasn't entirely in the mood to make a dash, it felt so good to sweat it out. And to have my husband all to myself for that time, felt great. We returned home to the house where the children were happy (tummies all full from the hearty breakfast) and playing about.

The husband and I tucked into a late breakfast, same as what everyone already had, and then washed up. There was no real rush to do anything or go anywhere, and so we just rolled leisurely along. When the big kids were done with their activities, everyone gathered and headed to the park together.

The sun was hot, the kids were happy and getting into a sweat. Balls were hit about, kicked about and bounced about. The playground was also a great source of fun for the kids - bit and small. I felt so happy just talking to the girls and catching up about nothing at all.
It was late when we decided to go for lunch. And we had the best, meal ever! Authentic Viet food. Broken rice, flavourful marinated meat, fresh crunchy vegetables, yummy soup of pho.. it was
heaven.

All of us |
We went back to the house and the kids pretty much self-entertained. It was a typical lazy Saturday spent at home with little on the agenda, accomplishing some yet nothing much at all.
|
The pet bird |
We lazed our time away, while some took naps. Then just before the sun set, the husband and I decided to go into the outdoors - it was so therapeutic and while it was terribly cold, it was also very different and thus fun.

#bonding |
The night ended simply, with us buying take-out to eat in. We had good chatter, some beers, some TV time, some play, lots of laughs - oh, it was brilliant.
We finished off the night packing and packing more, and finishing off as much laundry as I could. Afterall, the comfortable stay in this lovely home was coming to an end the next day.
After everyone had gone to sleep, my girlfriend and I stayed up into the night to chat. We caught up on our lives, on our old days at uni, of life ahead, of common interests, how life had changed yet seemingly not in the last few years... there is nothing as special as connecting with a friend you haven't seen for yonks, only to find that nothing much as changed despite the time that has passed. I'm so thankful for such a friendship and I only wish that we can continue this distant friendship as close in our hearts for years to come.
