When I returned home from work yesterday, I was pleasantly surprised by the husband’s discovery of the day. Kate can “sing”! He did a live demonstration and started singing twinkle twinkle. My little girl ended off each word at the end of every sentence!

Dye-dye
Kate has an issue with pronouncing the letter “B”.
It’s not that she cannot say it; if we ask her to say “bar” (as in Bar-ney), she can mimic us perfectly. But once we place the words together BAR-NEY, she reverts to how she’s been saying it forever – “nar-nee”.
Bye bye = dye dye
Baby = deedee
I know her skills are still in-training but the husband and I are still attempting to correct her so that she’ll speak properly. What is amazing and terribly cute is how she not only mimics the sounds we make (to her best capability), but our intonation too!
So if we thrill “bayyy (fa) beeee (mi)”, she’ll say “dee (fa) dee (mi)”! It’s sooo cute!

Always my baby
While commuting home yesterday on the train, I saw a mother carrying her sleeping daughter. The girl is probably about 5 years old & was rather tall. The mother was having a rather difficult time carrying the child and despite changing the carrying position several times, the girl didn’t wake up – must have been deep slumber! After a few stops (I was ready to ask for a seat for her already!) she got a seat and I was watching how the mother adjusted the sleeping position of the child, lovingly cradling her in her arms.
I was touched by what I saw.
It struck me then that a mother’s love knows no bounds; no matter how tired my arms may be, no matter how non-conducive the environment may be, I will still shelter and protect my child. And no matter how old she gets, she’ll never be too heavy for me to carry, to hold, to hug.

The first of more to come
Turning 31 - that's what the husband is tomorrow.
We've already made plans for the actual day, but the first makan celebration we had was yesterday afternoon. After much thought, the husband finally decided on a lunch venue.

I think everyone had a jolly time eating, the food was good, the company was great and it was topped up with two treats – complimentary bottle of wine & a birthday cake!

Yup, that's where we went over the weekend. In Kate's words, the "doo" (zoo).
The first time we brought her there, she was only a baby and we weren't sure if she really absorbed that much. This time round, she could walk on her own, watch the live shows and she definitely had fun & saw much - my girl is so clever & I'm so proud of her!
We saw tigers,monkeys, birds, fishes, turtles, elephants, chimpanzees, orang utans, ponies, goats.. so many! It was even more fun because we went with friends with other children and it was soo nice.
Along the way, we pointed out many animals to Kate which she could recognise, and she could answer when we asked her what they were doing. So now, she knows that the tigers were sleeping, the monkeys were eating & swinging, the fishes & turtles were swimming, the elephants were swinging their trunks and sprayed water through them too! My heart burst with pride and amazement when she could relate to me what she saw, and I'm very happy at how developed she is!
The highlight for her has got to be the children's play area. The moment she eyed the water-area, she lunged ahead (while we were carrying her) & the moment we took off her shoes, she dashed into the water with no hesitation! Immediately, I told the husband "this is defintely her zone!" It was so delightful watching her playing in the waters & having fun. It was so cute!

We left after water-play as it was already late afternoon, and Kate was due for her nap. I think she also had enough after a whole half-day at the zoo. I'm definitely bringing her back to the zoo again!
