Just like before

The husband and I were very fortunate to finally go off for a short holiday. Just us. It was nothing short of a miracle that the comets aligned and we had help with the kids with no work or school to hold us back. So off.we.went!

One for the road. Just before we went off on our holiday. HOLIDAY!

First thing that we he did upon arrival. Nothing.

With some encouragement from the sister, I hit the gym. I did my first 2.4km run in a year and worked out my arms. It felt good.

Our yummilicious dinner. Had to take a pic of this hilarious duck which served our pineapple rice.

We savoured every bit of the authentic food. The tom yum soup was so spicy I swear I had heartburn.

Island hopping. It was nice and breezy on the speedboat.

Krabi, Thailand.

My husband, the spiderman.

Chicken island. Got its namesake because of that chicken-head looking rock you see in the background.

Snorkelling. Attacked by the fishes!

Important things you need by the poolside. Beer, water, book, towel, sunblock, snacks.

This was me, heading to the pool. Important item that couldn't fit into the basket - the float.

The best bits of the holiday - being able to spend time with my friend.

He takes his holiday very seriously. Must do nothing.

At the beach.

Local noodles, fruits, coconut.

Sunset.

Just for the record, the husband and I do beach holidays best. I told him, "I like no one better to do nothing with."

It felt so good to have this break. Though we missed the kids like crazy, it felt so good to be with you.

I is sick

Or rather, I was sick.

Started out with an itchy nose on Monday. Sniffly nose on Tuesday. Runny nose yesterday that became a marathon with the nose inviting more germs on-board so much so that I ended the evening with a pounding headache, sore nose and sore throat. My body was creaky and I felt like cr*p. The husband helped with baby duty at night and I remember feeling all groggy and it was the sweetest thing to hear Kate say, Mommy, I don't want you to be sick. I want Mommy to feel better already. Such a sweetheart!

I still had sleep interrupted (Jake's cries & to relieve my boobs) but it was still great sleep compared to if I was looking after Jake and I woke up feeling better.

How odd that I miss him just because we didn't spend the night together. Jake turns 5 months tomorrow!

Look at how Jake is staring at his sister eat! So poor thing (& cute!) as if we never feed him. I notice that he is beginning to respond to people and will cry if he's left alone. His eyes follow us where we move and he looks at our faces intently. Kate still goes to him each morning when she awakens and says "Good morning Jaaaake" and I think it's so lovely. I look forward to when they can play with each other.

My dad sent me to work today (yaay) and though Kate looks a bit not so nice in this pic, I love how she's pulling her tiny pigtails. We're trying to grow her hair out and it's at this in-between stage where it's long yet not long enough. The first thing I told her when I saw her this morning was "Kate, thanks for wishing me to feel better. Mommy feels better today" and she seemed pleased as bug.

Flower girl duty

Kate experienced first-hand being a flower girl last Sunday at a friend's wedding. The friend had gathered the daughters of some of us and made them all look like little princesses for the day. I was hesitant of Kate's performance initially, because she can be good or bad depending on her mood. But I'm glad that I let her try it in the end because she impressed both the husband and I with her ability to follow instructions. She looked a doll on the day and I love her so much. Cannot believe how much she's grown.

Here's a ton of pics from the day:

Flower girls from XXS to L

The men in the Seah family. Jake was dressed in a Zara shirt that was a little baggy on him. He still looked very cute though.

Jake

Rehearsal

A pretty family pic (one where we weren't in pyjamas or something)

Before anything started, Jake conked out from exhaustion

Getting ready!

Actual march in - so proud of Kate!

Entertaining herself while the Justice of Peace was conducting the ceremony

Coincidental matching combo of white and pink

Lovely ribbon that made the dress look prettier

My pretty little princess

Rehearsal for the second march-in

Kate walks again

After lunch - she hadn't napped (it was 4pm) and still found energy to run!

Wish I captured a better shot of Kate running into her father's arms

Finally, she knocks out.

Funny Kate

Spot Kate - she received a new set of stickers, reviving my series of "Spot Kate". Living room floor.

We spotted a spider along our kitchen wall. Kate launches into the song (tune of Intsy Wincy Spider)

Insy wincy spider climb up the kitchen wall.

The rest of the song was the same but the husband and I looked at each other in amusement hearing how this little one correctly replaced the lyrics. Haha! So clever!

Crabby Saturday

Dinner date at the bestie's. 3 besties, 3 girls, 1 boy.

Clara, Kate and Jaz

Enjoying our crab bee hoon dinner - absolutely yums!

Durians to end the night

Vaccination Friday

Jake gets his hair trimmed by the husband

He's graduated from being cradled to sitting in his own barber seat!

Kate knocked out last night at 8pm. She asked for milk and wanted to sleep and sleep she did all the way until this morning at 6am (she was awakened slightly on one occasion as she had to pee, but other than that it was a good sleep). Here, she enjoys her hearty breakfast.

Home-cooked big breakfast. Hash brown, sausage, bacon, egg, baked beans. Not pictured - preferred beverage (milo/ milk/ tea/ coffee) and bread.

I spent the afternoon bringing Jake for his vaccination. After a 1.5month delay, he finally gets to be shot. Two - one each on his thigh and because the polyclinic deems him too old to take a rota-virus, I had to rush to another clinic to get that settled. Then back to the polyclinic again because I had to change his appointment. Sounds easy but I was going up and down and up again. But at least I managed to settle everything - hooray!

Just for the record, at a week shy of 5months, Jake is 7.4kg and 64cm. He's about in the 75th percentile generally. So far, he's not running a temperature (tonight is going to be a longer-than-long night) but he is cranky and I think he's uncomfortable from the jabs. His right thigh is mildly bruised from the needle.

Today's not exactly fun, but it's still a day fulfilled with Mommy-duties. Am relieved too that we finally started Jake on his jabs, finally all-clear after the flu-ridden months!

Fun for Thursday

Jake naps. I wish he'll sleep better through the night. Please baby, please!

Kate brushes her teeth. Hee hee. This girl's antics never fails to crack me up.
On the same note of cracking me up, Kate and I had this conversation two nights ago. We were playing masak.

K: you drink this (hands me toy cup)
I sip it.
K: you drink already you will become princess
Me: oh, what about you?
K: I no need. I am queen already.

HAHAHAHAHA!

To the sister: did you teach her that queen is of higher hierarchy than princess!?
