Christmas parties

We are now 7 days to Christmas and the festivities and gifting has begun!

The first party that I had was with the colleagues.

Then over the weekend, we had two Christmas parties with my bffs.

This year, we have 4. (From left, clockwise) Elijah 1yo, Kate 3yo, Charlotte 2yo, Jake 9mths.

Type "Sandy Hook" on google and a string of links will appear. The words "shooting", "massacre", "horror", "victim", "why" loom out at me.

Honestly, I have not read any article in full nor thoroughly. I cannot bring myself to. What I know of this episode, are in bits and pieces through what's spoken of among my friends/people I know, though I do not actively engage myself in them. I just listen and know enough, too much really.


I want to write to commemorate the innocent lives that were sacrificed in this sad, sad curse.

And I know it's selfish, but I also want to give thanks that all my loved ones are safe and sound.

Sad.

The husband reminded me that we will never get to see (in our current lives) another samedate.samemonth.sameyear-numbered day ever again after yesterday.

So just for the record, I'm extremely pleased that I wasn't working yesterday and spent all day with my family.

And at 12.12pm, though I hadn't remembered at that moment that it was a "special time", I know exactly what I was doing.

I was surfing channels on TV with Kate, trying to find a channel that she wanted to watch ("no, not this one... I don't want this....") while feeding her her lunch.

Simple things in life are the best!

Tale 1

The husband leans over and lays his head on Kate's head.

Kate: hey! what's this humpty dumpty doing?!

The husband walks by and pretend kicks Kate.

Kate: don't kick me! I'm not a ball!

Christmas trees

& so we begin a series of pictures with Christmas trees. Just because 'tis the season!

Sweet child of mine

I was feeling under the weather yesterday and because I just wanted to crash early, I couldn't put Kate to sleep. (I also didn't want to be too close to her should I pass anything to her.) She's used to me doing so, however, and when she was going to sleep, I heard her fussing and crying for me. Suddenly, there was silence and I heard her footsteps heading to the room.

Kate: Mommy, you rest well ok? Papa will put me to sleep tonight, tonight only. Tomorrow you put me to sleep ok?

Me: Okay, Kate.

I nearly forgot about this episode until this morning, and I asked the husband if he had bribed the girl in any way or other. He said, "I just told her you're not well and I'll have to put her to sleep for tonight. That's all."

And this is what being a mother is all about. The indescribably sweet moments where your child demonstrates pure love.
