Breakfast. This little girl opted for the Western breakfast with me - a simple Latte (for me), a shared cheese bagel. |
The boys opted for a local Korean breakfast of noodles and gyoza. This shot is precious with the big sister helping the little brother put on his bib. |
Such darling moments are for keeps |
After filling our tummies, we embarked on our first subway ride in Seoul (it's been a lot of buses till this point) to station Jamsil.
We have arrived! (See the stairs in the background? That's a common sight in the subway stations in Seoul. Thank goodness we have a strong man who can hike the stairs with pram (baby within is optional). |
So, on the agenda for our first full day in Seoul was
Lotte World.
Jake, with his new friend Lorry (hee hee, yes, the female counterpart is called Lotty). |
A family shot at the entrance of Lotte World. |
First stop - bumper cars! Girl car. |
Boys' car. |
They then went on to conquer most of the rides in the Kiddy Zone - this was one of Kate's favourites where it bounced down down down. Jake took it once (this golden shot). |
Another of Kate's favourite rides, The Flying Fish. Jake was too short and did not qualify for this. |
A flying piggy ride |
We caught the parade - it was World Cup themed with brazilian dancers and Samba moves. . |
There were bubbles to just entertain kiddos. |
That's Kate on the giant from Jack & the beanstalk. |
Little missy was thrilled to chance upon Cinderella! |
(From top) Kate meets (slightly freaky) Pinnochio. Atop the pumpkin carriage. Riding the cow (abandoned for the magic beans). Running across a live keyboard. Sitting on Alice's lap. And a tiger (couldn't figure out where that came from. Simba?) |
We headed to the outdoor area of Lotte World - look at that beautiful castle in the background!
Taking the kiddy viking |
The Ferris Wheel |
The kids had a blast at Lotte World and Kate really surprised and delighted me with her dare-devil spirits of wanting to go on rides over and over. She had favourites and took them at least 10 times each! Jake tried most of the rides he could go on but didn't take to any of them. His favourite was the bumper car.
We took the train back to the Myeongdong area and it was finally, at this time that K crashed for her nap. For the record, the husband carried her in the pram up and down the stairs at the station. Yay for our strong man!
Just for giggles, here is a very upset little man. Look at his grumpy face! He wanted to be carried but he'd dropped the balloon (green, on the left) so I put him down to pick it up and I started to run away from him and he wasn't happy. I had to coax him to pick up the balloon and walk to me. Had to carry him to appease the tired boy. |
We had dinner at this randomly-picked restaurant that looked simple. At the end of dinner, J found his little pot of fun by tossing rubbish into the bin. |
A random precious moment - when K walked up to J and hugged him! |
By this time, we were pretty whacked but we did a quick stroll through the streets and headed back to our hotel. It wasn't too far, just a loop around the block. And in-between, we picked up some skewers for supper.
Nom nom nom. |
This wrapped up our long and very fruitful day. The kids were thrilled to have spent their day on rides and fun kiddy stuff. The husband and I were just happy to be with them and watching them have that much fun. After the kids knocked out, the husband and I got up because we had to semi-pack for our next two days in a different hotel/place!
Note: it was three days later that we discovered that the tiny restaurant we had dinner at was actually
right at our hotel. But because we had only ever ventured via the regular entrance, we had missed that this was at the alternate exit. Ha!
