Singapore to Seoul - Day 1

Date: 24th June
Flight time: 8am

We flew off early on a Tuesday morning, so early that when we were enroute to the airport at 6am, the skies were still dark. It had been a very late night for the husband and I - we were still packing until 1am the night before. So when my alarm clock rang at 5am... let's just say I wish I could wail and kick a fuss about wanting to sleep in just like Jake - but I didn't.

The little girl was in a good mood - she was excited and raring to go! We made our 6am call-time for the taxi we booked in advance and off we went.

Departing from Singapore - whee!
The husband and I took a child each upon clearing customs and off I went in search for a huge cuppa. I deserved one for surviving on only 3 hours of sleep! I managed to squeeze in two purchases; one of make up (Chanel loose powder in compact & YSK highlighter pen) plus a magazine to read and joined the husband at the gate.

Loving them loving each other
On the gangway to holiday happiness!

The flight to Korea was about 6.5 hours. Both kids settled in fine - seasoned are they with their personal TV screens. They yelled to change channels between "Elmo!" and "Hi5!" and "Frozen!" and... you get the gist. We were served our breakfast, Jake took a short nap and phew - we survived the flight to Korea.

Annyeang-Haseyo!
That was our first pic taken in Korea. We set off to collect our luggages and looked for our bus that will bring us from Incheon Airport to Myeongdong, city centre of Korea where our hotel was located. The bus was pretty regular and it took us about an hour to reach our destination.

We stayed at Ibis Myeongdong and it was very centrally located. The bus-stop was right at the hotel's doorstep which was a great relief and convenience with all our baggage - that were on wheels and feet (hah).

Waiting for check-in

By this time, it was already about 5pm (local time - Korea is an hour behind Singapore) and we were all famished. We all washed up then popped out of the hotel and went in search of food.

Our first meal was shabu-shabu, where we had seafood and pork/beef cooked in hot soup. After filling our tummy and improving the mood of the hangry husband; we continued to roam the streets of Myeongdong right at the foot of our hotel. The whole area was of cobble and reminded me of a maze where there were carts of food/ items on sale and rows and rows of shops selling cosmetics & facial products. No shopping at all, except for food items that were calling out to us!

Street snacks - potato twist and sausages with rice cake.
Waffle with ice-cream and nutella

Both kids had a whale of a time as we allowed them in indulge in all the food that we were sharing and it was great fun. The husband had bought some beers and some snacks (crackers and tempura prawn) but we were so beat he didn't wake up to consume them. We ended the night with our tummies full and hit the sack - it's been a long day since we awoke from our beds in Singapore that morning and slept in Seoul.
