Our time together

It's never quite easy to spend time alone as a couple once you've had a kid. But it's not impossible, and it requires planning & effort.

I've just spent the past hour sitting at the dining table with the husband talking, reading, laughing, drinking, eating, playing games, surfing... (not that both of us did all of that but we did them all between the two of us)

& though I'm sleepy (& was sleepy half hour ago), I'm happy that I stayed up to be with him.

And now it's good night - we have a full day tomorrow. Praying for good weather please!

Communication

... is very important.

Thanks for taking time out to let me know what you're thinking and feeling. This is why relationships remain rock solid.

Love!

Thanks ...

to the husband for the lovely time at dinner last night.
This time, the husband made all the arrangements and I totally felt like I was on a date (uh, ok, so it was). I allowed myself to be picked up and driven to the unknown destination and this was where we ended up.

The ambience was pretty nice, though the husband was pretty sure that the premise used to be a KTV.

The food was interesting, and though the portions were tiny, the whole seven-course dinner filled us up pretty well.

Thanks for the laughs, planning the whole dinner date, company and lovely time we shared over an interesting meal. I love how we chanced upon having this dinner for the first time last year, and I love even more how we're making it a tradition.

Love you my dear husband.

Date night

Got an update from the husband, seems that Kate is not running a temperature after all. Yay!

And tonight is date night with the husband, so I'm very pleased that we get to enjoy our night with each other without worrying about the little one.

Looking forward to a lovely time with the husband!

Rough night

Today is the seventh day post Kate taking her MMR shot. It's been commonly said that fever will strike 7-10 days after the shot's administered. I wonder if that was the case, but she had a really rough night yesterday. She was tossing, turning, perspiring and basically being very fussy and not able to sleep. Or perhaps it was because she had too much fun in the daytime such that she could not go to rest properly?

It didn't help that the husband and I both had tummyaches and I seemed to have been struck by some odd bug that made me unable to sleep - I suspect it was the prune juice (cos that's the only thing that I took out of the ordinary); sugar perhaps? And I took the juice because I was mildly constipated thinking that taking the juice will help me but noooo, it made me bloated and my stomach churn!

Tragic.

It continues to be simply great

On this second day of the new year, I have

1/ Went for a morning jog
2/ Cleared the husband and my cupboard of old clothes, ready to be donated to The Salvation Army
3/ Packed both our drawers so that you can see neat piles
4/ Did a fresh batch of laundry
5/ Shopped online
6/ Did a batch of laundry
7/ Ordered pizza to have a laze-in makan with the husband
8/ Watched & still watching TV (yay to free channels on cable for the new year)
9/ Showered the daughter and packed her off for a wedding lunch with the grandparents
10/ Had an apple
11/ Swept the floor

And it's only mid-day!
It's so precious to have time to do these random brainless things as a couple. I do miss Kate but I'm going to enjoy lazing around and surfing and just hanging out with the husband; cos life's gotta have balance and it's great!

Meaningful end and a beautiful start

HAPPY NEW YEAR EVERYONE!

The last day of 2010 was spent doing some catch-up with old friends, and made me count my blessings that I have a healthy beautiful girl. Despite being 'old fuddy duddies', the husband and I stayed up with baby-in-tow past midnight, counting down to 2011! We had a nice dinner (stumbled upon a new restaurant under the oddest circumstances) together as a family and we also managed to pop by two homes and saw more friends. I welcomed the year very simply with the husband and baby by my side, with my best friend too. Next year, her husband and newborn will be able to join in the countdown - woot!

The first day of this new year was easy - time spent with Kate at the playground while the husband slept in, a late lunch and grocery shopping, followed by naps and play at my mom's which ended with an uber sumptuous and yumsy steamboat dinner with the family. Kate had a blast playing with yiyi, uncle Jon and jiu jiu. So fun!

Such simple things which bring the greatest sense of joy and peace, what more can one ask for?

May the new year be as happy, satisfying and glorious!
