Kate's colouring
Piecing it like jigsaw
Bit by bit, the house is coming together. I'm feeling more involved now as now that the major works to the home is over, I'm allowed to go visit it. For posterity's sake, I'm going to list what's done thus far.
- Feature wall
- Wooden decking in the living room balcony
- Our mini garden in the bedroom balcony
- Lights in the house - though we need to replace one that's bought wrongly, another that's ugly and another that we totally didn't know about
- We have a 'relax corner' for one of the bay windows in the utility room/cupboard, ala "walk in wardrobe". This multi-purpose piece of furniture doubles up as a (dangerous) indoor playground (slide) for Kate.
- Walls around the house painted - beige for our living room and lilac for the bedrooms
- Cupboard in master bedroom hacked
- Invisible grilles ordered, will be fixed next month
- Air-conditioning unit fixed for the living room
- Living room furniture bought & delivered
- Dining table bought & semi-fixed up (DIY by the husband)
- Master bed mattress bought, not delivered
- Master bed-frame bought, not delivered
- Children's bed & mattress bought, not delivered
- Sound system bought, not installed
Christmas makan session with the family
The sister decided that her X'mas theme this year was moustaches. I didn't question, just went along with it! Makes for interesting piccies, no doubt. The meal was okay, the company was awesome and as always, I marvel at how quickly time has simply flown by. [Here's our last Christmas makan session for 2010 - look at how much Kate has grown!]

I love my brother & sister

I love my daughter & husband

Personalised Christmas card for yeye, nainai, yiyi, uncle Jon & jiujiu - Kate's first stab at craft, she put glue and stuck the tree & buttons on!

Till next Christmas! Ho ho ho!

Spending time together
I'm going to hit the sack soon, but not before I say how happy I am with today. Didn't accomplish much, but spent time with the Mom, the Kate, the Aunt and mostly the husband.
We lounged at our new home, amidst the uncompleted-ness of it all but it struck me, as we sat there with our one piece of furniture "this is our home"; he nodded in agreement.
Lucky us had Kate taken care of so we had the luxury of strolling around the neighbourhood for dinner, taking routes we'd never before. It felt so familiar holding his hand and walking along in silence. We had silly dinner conversation about nothing much at all. We purchased another piece of furniture and had some laughs about earnest/zealous service staff. We walked to and from dinner and I had the chance to look up in the sky and see the moon in its full state tonight. We checked out the newly-installed lights at the house at night time and (phew) they work very well and the house is bright enough! We had time to pop to say goodbye & goodnight to the daughter before we hit the road for a double-date with the besties for a movie. We caught New Years Eve, a feel-good-simple-plot that, well, made me feel good.
Simple things, happy times, good memories.

My off-day with Kate
We finally head out of the house at 1pm. I bought this Esprit top for her when she was in my belly. She used to wear it as a dress, now it works as a top. Pink bottoms from H&M, on a holiday to Hong Kong in 2010. Shoes from Osh Kosh.
A treat for us three! We shared a meal of fillet-o-fish (Jake & I had Coke light, she had water from Dora bottle) & nuggets. She tried curry sauce for the first time and didn't fancy it much ("it's spicy!")
"We are going to watch Hi-5 ok? Are you happy?" She then napped on the drive there for half hour.
I needed a toilet break when we arrived. "Got small small basin! For me!" She squealed in delight.

There was still time before the show so we walked about the first level of Millenia Walk. Not very exciting, though we chanced upon a mini book fair. The little one flips through a colourful book.

"See! She never wear shoes! So naughty, correct?"
We got to the already-crowded stage area. She happily posed for me. She got bored waiting half-hour for the show to start.
The girl doing some hand action along with the show.
We bumped into her little friend, Finn! He's grown so tall since we last saw him at his birthday party in August!
After the show ended, she stayed off-stage & watched other kids go up to take pics with Hi-5. We got there 50minutes before the show started but the limited stickers for photo-taking (first 50 kids) were already given out!
Good thing Kate was content enough to just watch the happenings, and I compensated her with a picture with Jup Jup instead.

We then discovered a bakery where we stocked up on a snack & our breakfast.
Enjoying her snack

We headed out of town towards home. "I'm so tired", exclaims Kate.
We made a stop-over at Rail Mall for me to find out the status of our coffee table. Kate was entertained by "a small small chair for me!"
"Take a picture, this one too"
I had to make a stop at the ATM for another house errand, and she entertained herself by running up and down the sloping corridor.
"Durians!"
After dinner, she had some "yan wo, this is mine, correct?!"
It was a tiring day, not very eventful and exciting but terribly fulfilling.
