Jake's tooth

Not a great pic (tough to shoot) but here it is! You can just make out a little bit of white on his lower gum. My little boy is finally, really teething (after months of non-stop drool)

Kate and I saw a rainbow yesterday. Made me very happy! Happy to have seen the beautiful rainbow, and happier that Kate was there to see it too

The day that Jake and I both wore yellow... and ate yellow (hehe)

He's becoming cuter everyday

Just look at that (sweaty) face

Christmas already!?

Jake likes to sleep this way. On his side and with his head tilted back. I always think he looks like a seal

Just because he's so adorable

Chiong-ing

We planned this a month ago for Big Jon's birthday which coincided with him coming to Singapore. We used to do this once, twice, sometimes three (!) times every week. Without fail. We had so much energy! Now, I feel tired just typing this (heh).

The day rolled around and I must say that I do kinda miss going out in a care-free way. I drank nearly as much as as I could (at the back of my head I just didn't want to go "all out" cos I knew I couldn't handle the consequences the next day) and I stayed out till 3am (!!!) and everything was still under control, i.e. I was still sober enough to wash up thoroughly (remove make-up, shower, wash hair - all very necessary as I cannot tolerate grossness in my bed.

They say company makes all the difference in the world and it was a night where I drank and danced with my BFFs, just like once-upon-a-time.

It's been a long while that the husband and I took a nice pic together <3>

Coincidentally, while doing clearing up over the weekend, I found an old pic of us circa 2003!
Same, but different.

Jake at 8 months

Diet: You have cereals in the morning, and you still consume milk 2-3 times a day. Your milk feeds vary and you can consume up to 200ml of milk (that’s a lot, compared to Kate who never crossed the 120ml at the same age). You're on 90% BM and 10% formula. The formula is more as back-up when we go out (somehow, I have this mild fear that you'll starve if my boobs suddenly dry up; it's a mind thing, don't ask) and it's more convenient to bring a feed of powder out when I'll not be around you. Though now, you have porridge/noodles/soupy stuff, potatoes and mashed-up-stuff for your other meals. You don’t seem to be fussy with food (yay) and seem to have a healthy appetite. You love biscuits and you stare (rudely) when we eat. Hehe.

Play: You love watching Kate and following her and swiping her things always (and incur her wrath); you like playing (hitting) all your toys, banging away. You put everything into your mouth.

Growth: You are due for your vaccination this Friday so I don’t know your current height/weight but from what I see, you have definitely grown!

Developments: You continue to leopard crawl with zest, I really wish you’ll figure out how to use your knees cos honestly, you don’t go very far with how you’re crawling. Though... if you put your mind to it, you go everywhere you want because you are so determinedly strong! It tickles me to see you zoom across the house wherever you want to go. It’s so cute that you have truly become an occupant of the house, besides your (mountain) of things everywhere, I actually see you at places like the playroom, or the master bedroom, or (once only) in the toilet. The walker is really a good investment! You have learnt how to open/close your fingers ala “twinkle little star”, you can wave your arms, you can clap your hands. You are beginning to babble a lot nowadays. You also recognise people and are quite a terror in wanting to be heard. You yell the house down and cry with all your might. Little chilli padi!

Dear Jake,

Happy 8 months! You're such a joy to be around now and my not-so-secret happiness also stems from the fact that you need need need Mommy to carry the moment you set your eyes on me (whee!) Your so responsive now and it's really fun to try to tease smiles out of you. I love how happy and cheery you are in the mornings and it's so precious to watch your beautiful face. You have to learn to curb your nasty temper though - such terrible screams and tantrums when you don't get your way!

I love you with all my heart, dear baby boy.

Sunday brunch with my favourite men

My little man getting ready

And we made it! Canopy @ Bishan

Love this shot of them both

Kisses for my sweet

Baby was so tired out from the morning's activities that he crashed later than usual for a nap.

It's taken us a while but I think we finally have some sort of a routine going on in our lives for the weekend. Last Sunday, the husband and I made a rather last-minute decision to go out for brunch together with Jake as we realised (with guilt, on my end at least) that we seldom bring Jake out. So off we went and Im so happy that we did because he was so happy to be out and about! So many things to see, so many things to smell and touch. I think it was a good thing. This is only made possible by my parents helping to take Kate out so we know that she's well-entertained at the same time.

I'm hoping to have more outings with my boy exclusively.

Happy Eating!

I've always been a fan of Awfully Chocolate's original chocolate cake but ever since the husband tasted the banana version, he's hooked! Every (legitimate) opportunity he can get, he'll want to get the cake so he can enjoy it!

It was the sister's birthday celebrations last weekend and we volunteered to get the cake. Besides getting her birthday cake, look what else we did:

Happier - the husband had to take a slice immediately
A whole cake to our own later, the last morsel

Melon-ed out

On most days, my beloved Dad prepares a fruit box for me. It's usually really colourful, yummy and nutritious.

Some days, it's just one kinda fruit (white melon). And of all days, I happened to pack rock melon from home too. So today, I end up with plenty of melons! What are the odds... that this is the second time it's happening in two weeks?!

Alike, much?

Happy birthday, Jean!

We love you always!

To my favourite (and only) sister: you are a beautiful person and as I look at you today, I can barely remember the (not-so) little girl from once-upon-a-time. You are sensible and sensitive. You are generous and funny and loving. I'll always remember being startled by your wise doses of advice at random moments when I'm being the dramatic-trouble-inviting person that I am was. I miss you when we don't hang out through the week (at least one makan session together) and I know I can always count on you to be there when I'm in my silly moods to rant, laugh, giggle or cry. Now, you're not only there for me, but you're also there for my children. Thank you for being you, my dearest sister, who's the best yiyi/sister/sister-in-law.
